Real Lappish Reindeer Competition
Do you want to feel the heated atmosphere of Reindeer competition? Salla Reindeer Park you can experience the excitement of "Formula one" reindeer race, drive wildly a running reindeer. The reindeer competitions are traditional and popular sports in Lapland. The first reindeer competition was organized early 1950. The reindeer competitions are the highlight of the year for many reindeer herder.
The competition is organized on a circular track. Every adult will have own reindeer and alternately compete with the fastest time.
Already in start point you can feel the excitement. When you drive a reindeer you are standing on the skies meanwhile you give speed for the reindeer using the driving rope.
If you love speed, you'll get it, reindeer driving World Record is 1 minute 13 seconds/1km. Helmet is a safety equipment for drivers.
For children reindeer ride are organized in a sledge and they have possibility to feed the reindeer. There is also a lappish lasso throwing competition. During the race other ones are driving, you can enjoy the shining snowy nature, hot drinks and sausages and spend nice time together.
