Two-hour husky sleigh ride

We will start our trip from the main building, where we will first check that your shoes and clothes are suited for the wintry trip. If necessary, we will lend you a warm coat, shoes and gloves.

As the guide harnesses the dogs to the wooden sleighs, you will have a chance to get to know the huskies that are going to pull your sleigh. You can also help the guide with the harnessing, if you wish. Each sleigh will be pulled by four to six dogs, depending on the weather conditions and the length of the trip.

The guide will also tell you how to steer the huskies: how to make them stop and turn. Every husky knows its name as you call it.

When the huskies have been harnessed, we will start our ride. The ropes holding the sleighs will be loosened one by one. The guide will accompany you in a snowmobile at a sufficient distance behind or in front of you so that the rumbling of the snowmobile will not disturb you. During the ride, we will make a short stop to see that everything is all right.

Each sleigh takes two persons. One of them steers the sleigh standing on the runners, while the other sits in a so-called sleigh bag, sheltered from the wind. The places will be swapped midway.

Midway, we will stop at a resting place where the husky sleighs are attached to trees with a rope in the back of the sleigh. As the dogs rest, we will make coffee and cook sausages over an open fire in the midst of the forest. For dessert, we will have local home-baked pastries. After the picnic, it is nice to continue our snowy ride.

After two hours of sleigh ride, we will return to the starting point. The dogs will be released from the harnesses to rest, and you will be awarded a Husky Sleigh Riding Licence.
